Holistic Mentally Refreshing Exercises

How holistic mentally refreshing exercises can make you healthier and stronger not just physically but mentally.

The key is to know when you need to take a break before you reach an advance burn out and it takes longer for you to heal.

Signs you need to refresh mentally

You may notice that you are starting to feel a bit burnt out but there are signs that will tell you when you need to take a break and refresh mentally before you get too burned out.

What are those signs?

Here are a few to watch for:

  • You are having trouble focusing
  • Your relationships are suffering
  • You are showing signs of stress
  • You are neglecting your own self-care
  • Your body’s gas tank is on empty

How to holistically mentally refresh

It starts with a good diet. If you do not eat a healthy diet your brain is not going to get the nutrients it most needs.

What are those nutrients?

The top nutrients for your brain to be healthy are Vitamin D3, omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA, and Ginkgo Biloba. All of these promote healthy mood, better circulation of blood to the brain, and cognitive function. If you are not getting enough of these in your diet you may want to consider adding food sources that provide these or using supplements. There are a few others which include PhosphatidylSerine which occurs naturally in all cells, and a traditional Chinese medicinal herb called Huperzine A which is an extract of Huperzia serrata (club moss).

Exercise is also important and goes hand in hand with a good diet. Exercise promotes the overall health of the body and brain as it promotes better circulation, reduces risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. It also strengthens and tones the muscles and promotes better balance which can reduce the risk of trips and falls.

The best exercise for mentally refreshing

Which exercises are best? It depends on what you can physically do. Walking is a great place to start even if it is slow and not very far. As you walk over time you will be able to build up your distance and speed. It will help you regain some of your mobility.

If you are able, Yoga is a fantastic holistic exercise. It is low or no impact, teaches deep breathing, and concentration so that you can learn to meditate. It helps to strengthen core muscles and tone muscles overall. It also promotes better balance which is important as we age. It can help you stay young and at the same time clear your mind. It is a fantastic exercise for the mind, body, and spirit. Clearing the mind, filling the spirit, and promoting range of motion, mobility, and balance, Yoga is one of the best low or no impact exercises you can do. You can do it at home or at a yoga class, it easily travels with you and can be done in motels, outside in the park, or just about anywhere you go. There is very little equipment needed, a good yoga mat and clothes that fit well will get you doing yoga.

Not only is a good diet and exercise good for the body but it can make you more productive at your job or duties at home. The reason for that is when you eat properly and exercise, you reduce your stress and fatigue levels. Reduced stress and fatigue lead to few injuries and less time that you are out of work due to injuries or sickness.

Other things you can do to mentally refresh

There are a few other things that will help you mentally refresh holistically besides diet and exercise.

Here are a few of those

  • Get your sleep, at least 7 to 8 hours a night will help your mind and body.
  • Learn something new, continually learning something new will expand your mind
  • Meditate in order to be mindful
  • Keep a positive attitude
  • Make social connections and we do not mean online social connection. Online connections are great for those who are completely shut in but if you are able to get out make real social connections. Join a club, take a class, learn to dance or cook. Anything that gets you around people.
