10 Ways To Relieve Physical Pain Naturally

A physical pain keeps pinching you every minute and it becomes difficult to take your mind off it. People normally go with medicines and ointments to reduce the pain, but there are some natural remedies also to reduce physical pain.

Here are some of the ways to reduce physical pain naturally:

1. Fish Oil

Known for its excellent anti-inflammatory properties, Fish Oil is an excellent dietary choice of omega-3 fatty acids. Also, it does not contain mercury. Fish Oil not only alleviates physical pain but also facilitates many functions ranging from muscle activity to cell growth. Thereby, reducing the need for anti-inflammatory medications.

However, excess consumption of fish oil must be avoided as it can increase the risk of bleeding and might also affect the immune system.

2. Turmeric

Medical studies have time and again shown that turmeric has definite anti-inflammatory properties. The most active ingredient in turmeric, curcuma, possesses excellent pain-relieving qualities and is considered to be as effective as ibuprofen for pain management in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Many people experienced immense pain relief after taking a mixture of turmeric, two or three times a day for a period of four weeks.

To extract the best out of turmeric, it is best taken in its natural form, added to curries or smoothies, or juices.

3. Ginger

Ginger is considered to be a natural pain reliever and is said to quicken the recovery process and reduce inflammation drastically, after a bout of exercise. Its active ingredients offer ample relief for those suffering from pain conditions ranging from arthritis to post-surgical pain.

Ginger is best taken in its raw form. You can also add it to teas or smoothies.

4. Cloves

Cloves are traditionally used as a home remedy to relieve pain like a toothache. Cloves are as effective as benzocaine gel, a topical gel used by dentists for reducing needle pain. Medical research has time and again shown that it possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties.

5. Feverfew

Also called feather few or bachelor’s buttons, feverfew is a medicinal plant that contains analgesic and pain-relieving properties that are effective for treating inflammation, muscle spasms, toothaches, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach aches, as well as migraine headaches, and fever.

However, it’s best taken after soliciting a doctor’s advice as it may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and bleeding.

6. Heat Therapy

It is a time-honored tactic to reduce pain, relax the mind and change the nervous input from the body to the brain. For those who have constant back spasms, heat therapy works very well with a warm shower and massaging of the neck or back (whichever body parts hurt and pains) under the warm water. However, it is not recommended for treating acute injuries like twisting of the ankle, for applying heat on it will only increase blood flow and swelling.

7. Saltwater Soak

It reduces inflammation and offers instant relief from muscle soreness. In addition, it also releases tension in the muscles and reduces body pain caused by workouts or physical activities.

To extract the best out of it, you need to mix 1 cup of salt in a tub filled with lukewarm water. Then soak the affected body parts in the water for about fifteen to twenty minutes, and finally, just soak a towel in salted water, putting it over the affected area.

8. Massage

It is considered to be the most common method used for relieving body aches and pains. A proper massage session helps promote tissue relaxation and reduce stress and compression. Thus, offering ample relief from pain.

A massage with mustard oil is said to be highly effective for treating body pains as it contains anti-inflammatory properties.

9. Ice Pack

It works the best for pain and swelling caused by muscle sprains. It works by numbing the area and reducing bleeding.

All you need to do is to take a few cubes of ice in a plastic bag. Fill the bag with water and seal or tie it close. Wrap the bag in a towel and put it over the affected area for a few seconds. Do this compression twice a day. Try to avoid keeping the ice on the affected area for a long time.

10. Acupuncture

An effective alternative therapy that helps reduce pain like low back pain, neck pain, knee pain, tension headaches, and migraine headaches. Medical studies also conclude that it can help with musculoskeletal pain, pain associated with osteoarthritis, along 100 other different health-related conditions.
